Attorney General Eric Holder has demanded that The Daily Caller stop publishing articles about the increasing volume of calls in Congress for his resignation over the gun-running program Fast and Furious.

A reporter from The Daily Caller introduced himself to Eric Holder today and asked for a response to the growing calls for his resignation by federal legislators.

He said to the reporter, “You guys need to – you need to stop this. It’s not an organic thing that’s just happening. You guys are behind it.” He then proceeded to walk off stage without responding to the reporter’s question.

This could qualify as yet another case of Occupy Movement irony. The same Occupy Movement that has championed democracy through their catch phrase “this is what Democracy looks like” has had their own form of governance turned against them.

Perhaps they should adopt the idea of a constitutional republic, where the majority does not dictate the fate of the minority?

It is a common misconception that the founding fathers intended for the United States of America to be a democracy. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. They understood the perils of democracy – and created the constitution as a safeguard from the inevitable tyranny of the majority that democracy would result in.

Thomas Jefferson

A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people may take away the rights of the other 49%.

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Alexander Hamilton

We are a Republican Government, Real liberty is never found in despotism or in the extremes of democracy… it has been observed that a pure democracy if it were practicable would be the most perfect government. Experience has proved that no position is more false than this. The ancient democracies in which the people themselves deliberated never possessed one good feature of government. Their very character was tyranny; their figure deformity.

John Adams

Democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.

That the desires of the majority of the people are often for injustice and inhumanity against the minority, is demonstrated by every page of the history of the world.

Benjamin Franklin

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.

James Madison

Democracy was the right of the people to choose their own tyrant.

Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their death.

John Marshall

Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.

A major focus of Occupy Wall Street since its inception has been wealth inequality, namely the inequality in the US demonstrated by the fact that the top 1% of the country own the vast majority of its wealth.

But what is “the 1%” exactly? Based on IRS data from 2009, anyone making over $343,927 would qualify. Interestingly enough, in approximately 2 months, the Occupy Movement has managed to double that.

They’ve raised about $600,000. They can’t possibly need that much money, can they?

But it doesn’t end there. Where do they keep their money? Well in the case of Occupy Oakland, ironically one of the more anti-capitalist offshoots of OWS, they chose a bank. No, not a local credit union, but none other than Wells Fargo.

Yes, the same Wells Fargo that was a recipient of a $25 billion bailout in 2008. Some of its Oakland branches were also recipients of vandalism, courtesy of protestors.

But hey, at least they are willing to pay their fair share unlike the rest of the 1%, right? Wrong. These funds are completely tax free. After all, it’s their money! They know what to do with it better than the government does.

Down with the 1%!

This monday on MSNBC, professor Cornel West, a professor at princeton university, told host Martin Bashir that the war for entitlements would be “fought in the streets” by the occupy movement.

“I think the problem is that the poor children, keep in mind it’s 42% of poor children who live at or near poverty, it’s 25% in poverty. Our audience needs to keep that in mind,” West said. “Poor children need more than just a $1,000 for their family, they need a war against poverty to make it a major priority in the way which we have a priority for Afghanistan, and a priority to bail out banks, and a priority to defend corporate interests when it comes to environmental issues.”

Apparently Mr. West doesn’t realize that we have been engaged in a “war on poverty” since the 1960s, or believes that more of the same will have a different result.

Congratulating the Occupy movement for raising awareness, West continued, “It’s a major question of priorities here. That’s why the Occupy movement is so important because some of this is going to be fought in the streets. Civil disobedience does make a difference.”

Leaders in Latin America have reached the same conclusion many of the citizens of the US have reached: the war on drugs is a failure.

Most in Latin America however say that the problem is not local but foreign demand. Without this black market in America and Europe, drug traffickers would not be in a position of such power.

This sentiment grows more and more every year – it’s time to legalize and destroy the illegal drug trade.

Senior officials within the Obama administration have taken unusual steps to secure a contract New York-based Siga Technologies Inc. to buy an experimental smallpox drug. Not only is the the drug not guaranteed to work, there is also uncertainty over whether the drug is even needed.

The controlling shareholder of Siga Technologies Inc. is billionaire Ronald O. Perelman, a long time donor to the Democratic Party.

Following a complaint by Siga that contracting specialist at the Department of health and Human services were resistant to the company’s demands, officials replaced the lead negotiator on the contract. Moreover, when Siga was in danger of losing the contract a year ago, officials denied access to competing firms.

According to internal documents, in May the final contract was signed with Siga the only company offered the opportunity to submit a proposal, at a price earlier deemed unreasonable by specialists.

This is all despite the fact that there is no evidence that any mal-intentioned country or other group is currently in possession of smallpox.

During an interview on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, former Secretary of State Colin Powell blames the media and the extreme left and right for the political climate on Capitol Hill. “The media loves this game where everyone is on the extreme – it makes for great TV,” said Powell.

“What we have to do is to take some of the heat out of our political life in terms of the coverage of it, so these folks can get to work quietly.”

When asked what he though about “the fact” that the Tea Party says “compromise is a dirty word,” Powell indicated agreement and said that the Tea Party point of view “of no compromise whatsoever” is “not a point of view that will eventually produce a presidential candidate who will win.”

Apparently no amount of “Green Jobs” rhetoric coming from DC can have the slightest effect of the economic realities of the world in which we live. Who woulda thought?

So President Obama was right all along. Domestic energy production really is a path to prosperity and new job creation. His mistake was predicting that those new jobs would be “green,” when the real employment boom is taking place in oil and gas.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported recently that the U.S. jobless rate remains a dreadful 9%. But look more closely at the data and you can see which industries are bucking the jobless trend. One is oil and gas production, which now employs some 440,000 workers, an 80% increase, or 200,000 more jobs, since 2003. Oil and gas jobs account for more than one in five of all net new private jobs in that period.

A small business owner in Waco, GA is stirring up controversy with signs posted on his company’s trucks that state: “New Company Policy: We are not hiring until Obama is gone.”

Bill Looman, owner of U.S. Cranes, LLC, said he simply “can’t afford it.” He blames Washington.

“I’ve got people that I want to hire now, but I just can’t afford it. And I don’t foresee that I’ll be able to afford it unless some things change in D.C.”

A photo of one his signs went viral on Monday, November 21. Looman has had to have his phones disconnected because of the non-stop calls, and was forced to suspend his web site due to the massive amounts of traffic coming in. The reaction has been intense to say the least – both positive and negative.

Mr. Looman has made it clear that this is not a political ploy, but a sound business decision based on the state of the economy as well as current US economic policy. He places the blame mostly on the Obama administration.

“The way the economy’s running, and the way my business has been hampered by the economy, and the policies of the people in power, I felt that it was necessary to voice my opinion, and predict that I wouldn’t be able to do any hiring.”

It didn’t stop there however. Looman received an unexpected visit from the Secret Service after he was reported as a threat to national security.

“The Secret Service left here, they were in a good mood and laughing,” he said. “I got the feeling they thought it was kind of ridiculous, and a waste of their time.”

“I just spent 10 years in the Marine Corps protecting the rights of people… the First Amendment, and the Second Amendment and the [rest of the] Bill of Rights,” he said. “Lord knows they’re calling me at 2 in the morning, all night long, and voicing their opinion. And I respect their right to do that. I’m getting a reaction, a lot of it’s negative, now. But a lot of people are waking up.”

In another ironic twist to the irony-fest known as Occupy Wall Street, it seems that some occupiers are more equal than other occupiers, and therefore entitled to more equal lodging than their comrades.

From the New York Post:

A key Occupy Wall Street leader and another protester who leads a double life as a businessman ditched fetid tents and church basements for rooms at a luxurious hotel that promises guests can “unleash [their] inner Gordon Gekko,” The Post has learned.

The $700-per-night W Hotel Downtown last week hosted both Peter Dutro, one of a select few OWS members on the powerful finance committee, and Brad Spitzer, a California-based analyst who not only secretly took part in protests during a week-long business trip but offered shelter to protesters in his swanky platinum-card room.

AKA the 1%.

“Tents are not for me,” he confessed, when confronted in the sleek black lobby of the Washington Street hotel where sources described him as a “repeat” guest.

Tents are for the people, not the socialists.

Spitzer, 24, an associate at financial-services giant Deloitte, which netted $29 billion in revenue last year, admitted he joined the protest at Zuccotti Park several times.

Irony, thy name is OWS.

A hacking group known as “Anonymous” posted a Twitter update in which they claim they have breached NATO’s security and are holding 1GB of data – so confidential that they deemed it “irresponsible” to release to the public.

“NATO is aware that hacker group released what it claims to be NATO classified documents on the internet,” a NATO spokseman said in a statement. “NATO security experts are investigating these claims. We strongly condemn any leak of classified documents which could potentially endanger the security of NATO allies, armed forces and citizens.”

A series of raids have been done internationally in order to control the hacking group’s activity. “We want to send a message that chaos on the Internet is unacceptable,” said Steven Chabinsky, deputy assistant director of the FBI.

The group later posted a rebuttal to Mr. Chabinsky’s statement.

Now let us be clear here, Mr. Chabinsky, while we understand that you and your colleagues may find breaking into websites unacceptable, let us tell you what WE find unacceptable:

Governments lying to their citizens and inducing fear and terror to keep them in control by dismantling their freedom piece by piece.

Corporations aiding and conspiring with said governments while taking advantage at the same time by collecting billions of funds for federal contracts we all know they can’t fulfill.

Lobby conglomerates who only follow their agenda to push the profits higher, while at the same time being deeply involved in governments around the world with the only goal to infiltrate and corrupt them enough so the status quo will never change.

The group also takes credit for disrupting Visa and MasterCard web sites in December, when the two companies stopped processing donations to the founder of WikiLeaks.

Sixteen suspects were arrested on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in connection with the hacking group in raids across the country.

It seems that in the last week business owners all over America have been speaking out against the Obama administration.

Bernie Marcus, co-founder of Home Depot says that his company would “never have succeeded” if it was launched today. He puts the blame on burdensome regulation.

When asked about the single biggest impediment to job growth, he blamed the government.

The U.S. government. Having built a small business into a big one, I can tell you that today the impediments that the government imposes are impossible to deal with. Home Depot would never have succeeded if we’d tried to start it today. Every day you see rules and regulations from a group of Washington bureaucrats who know nothing about running a business. And I mean every day. It’s become stifling.

If you’re a small businessman, the only way to deal with it is to work harder, put in more hours, and let people go. When you consider that something like 70% of the American people work for small businesses, you are talking about a big economic impact.

He goes on to say that Obama’s policies are bad, based on the simple fact that he does not have the knowledge or the experience to effectively govern a free market system.

His speeches are wonderful. His output is absolutely, incredibly bad. As he speaks about cutting out regulations, they are now producing thousands of pages of new ones. With just ObamaCare by itself, you have a 2,000 page bill that’s probably going end up being 150,000 pages of regulations.

I’m not sure Obama would understand anything that I’d say, because he’s never really worked a day outside the political or legal area. He doesn’t know how to make a payroll, he doesn’t understand the problems businesses face. I would try to explain that the plight of the businessman is very reactive to Washington. As Washington piles on regulations and mandates, the impact is tremendous. I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I just think he has no knowledge of this.

It’s time to stand up and fight. These people in Washington are out there making your life difficult, and many of you won’t survive. Why aren’t you doing something about it? The free enterprise system made this country what it is today, and we’ve got to keep it alive. We are on the edge of the abyss.

Sheila Jackson Lee has proven once again that accusations of racism are a perfectly valid argument (or deflection, rather) – even in the face of a massive economic crisis.

“I do not understand what I think is the maligning and maliciousness [toward] this president,” said Jackson Lee. “Why is he different? And in my community, that is the question that we raise. In the minority community that is question that is being raised. Why is this president being treated so disrespectfully? Why has the debt limit been raised 60 times? Why did the leader of the Senate continually talk about his job is to bring the president down to make sure he is unelected?”

“I am particularly sensitive to the fact that only this president – only this one, only this one – has received the kind of attacks and disagreement and inability to work, only this one,” said Jackson Lee.

“Read between the lines,” she continued. “What is different about this president that should put him in a position that he should not receive the same kind of respectful treatment of when it is necessary to raise the debt limit in order to pay our bills, something required by both statute and the 14th amendment?”

“I hope someone will say that what it appears to be is not in fact accurate,” said Lee. “But historically it seems to be nothing more.”

While of course she is correct about the number of times the debt limit has been raised, she seems to overlook the simple fact that no president in American history has spent at levels comparable to that of Barack Obama, and this would obviously be further facilitated with a raise of the debt ceiling.
